Will my health insurance cover therapy?
To determine if you have mental health coverage through your insurance carrier, the first thing you should do is call them. Check your coverage carefully and make sure you understand their answers. Some helpful questions you can ask them:
What are my mental health benefits?
What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
How many therapy sessions does my plan cover?
How much does my insurance pay for an out-of-network provider?
Is approval required from my primary care physician?
What is therapy like?
Working with a therapist can feel very different depending on the therapist, where the client is at in life, and other personal factors. Psychotherapy is different than counseling, and works to understand our past influences, current patterns, and hopefully change how we experience self and the world. I work from the belief that healing happens through relationship and this means showing up to our sessions as a whole person (not a blank slate who just murmurs "hmmmm"). Together we work to determine goals and what you need and this will influence what individual sessions feel/look like for each client!
How do I schedule an appointment?

Do I have to use insurance?
I offer discounted rates for self-pay that can help make accessing care more affordable.
A FEW BENEFITS OF PRIVATE PAY
Keep your information private, Insurance companies require a certain amount of information about your sessions such as diagnosis, treatment plan, and progress notes.
Self-pay/private pay will require no DSM diagnosis (which is a part of your permanent health record).
Insurance won't dictate how many sessions you're "allowed", or tell you what therapist you must see.
Insurance often limits the amount of time they believe is "appropriate" for individual therapy. These limits are not imposed when utilizing private pay options.
Are you in-network?
Current insurance companies we are in network with include: WPS, Title 19-Forward Health, BCBS (July 2022), HPS
(More are in process and this space will be updated along the way!). Please always confirm with your insurance that my office is in-network and costs associated with using your insurance plan.
